2013 Australian Women's Masters

Round III:

BULLETIN 3

Round 3 is what you could say was the “lightning” round of the tournament. All games finished by 9.10PM. All spotting the wins or the attacks on their opponents and put them away. The interesting game of the round in my opinion was the Setiabudi v Jarek game. All the other games started off well then either dropped a piece or just gave the position away. Also, have to mention as well, it was almost another day of success if you had the black pieces. Sarah Anton was the only play to win as white. Interesting enough throughout the tournament is there is no draws have happened. Until then, keep cool out of this hot Melbourne weather.

Round II Games:

BULLETIN 2

Round 2 got under way and it was almost a white round. Some interesting games were played in particular Narenthran v Setiabudi and Simmonds v Krstevska. With 3 girls on 2/2, Setibudi, Simmonds and Jarek and with round 3 seeing the match up of Setiabudi v Jarek and Tanya Kolak playing Leteisha Simmonds there might be only 2 people on 3/3 or 1 person on 3/3 or we could still have a 3 way tie with 2 draws been done. Until then, let the games begin for round 3 tonight at 5.30PM.

Round 1 games:

BULLENTIN 1

So the event has finally kicked off and the battle begins between the girls. The last time an event similar to this using the name “Austalian” would have been around 10 years ago. So with participants from around the country in this Invitational event only, the organisers hope this will be the start to women’s chess getting back on the radar. With WFM Megan Setiabudi playing, this will be a memorable event to remember. As for the results for round 1, it was a black day. Even though it was sunny outside, black came up trumps. The games looked pretty one sided, but the game of interest with some combinations and great chess was the game between Anton – Simmonds. Below is a list of all the games from round 1.
