MCC GRAND PRIX 2012 More tournaments, more prizes, more opportunities! In 2012, our Grand Prix will be made up of our 5 Monday evening FIDE rated tournaments, as well as our 4 FIDE rated weekend events, giving players 9 tournaments from which to score their grand prix points! A player’s scores from all 9 events will add up to form their grand prix score at the end of the year. The tournaments included are: Australia Day Weekender: 7 rounds (Jan 26th – Jan 29th) MCC Club Championship: 9 rounds (Feb 6th – Apr 16th) ANZAC Day Weekender: 7 rounds (Apr 21st – Apr 25th) City Of Melbourne Open: 9 rounds (Apr 30th – Jul 2nd) Edwin Malitis Memorial: 7 rounds (Jul 16th – Aug 27th) MCC Open: 9 rounds (Sep 10th – Nov 12th) MCC Cup Weekender: 9 rounds (Nov 2nd – Nov 6th) Bob Brooking Round Robins: 5 rounds (Nov 19th – Dec 17th) Christmas Swiss: 6 rounds (Dec 14th – Dec 16th) Every point a player scores in any of these events, equals a grand prix point, for example if a player scores 5.5 points in the club championship and 4 points in the City of Melbourne, they will have accumulated 9.5 points over the two events. At the end of the year, the players with the highest number of points will win the grand prix prizes. PRIZE POOL: 1st, $400 2nd, $200 3rd, $150 4th, $100 5th, $70 6th, $50 7th, $30 1st under 1800, $350 2nd under 1800, $200 3rd under 1800, $150 4th under 1800, $100 5th under 1800, $50 1st under 1500, $350 2nd under 1500, $200 3rd under 1500, $150 4th under 1500, $100 5th under 1500, $50 The rating used all year for grand prix purposes will be the players ACF rating on January 26th (the first day of the Australia Day Weekender).
