Grandmaster Nigel Short, former World Championship challenger, has offered to give a simultaneous display and a one-hour lecture at Melbourne Chess Club on Wednesday, 16 March 2016 at 6:30pm. Born in 1965, Nigel was a child prodigy who quickly established himself as the leading British player and one of the world’s chess elite in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1993, Nigel almost reached the pinnacle of the World Chess Championship, stopped only by the legendary Russian World Champion, Garry Kasparov. As part of the Melbourne Chess Club’s 150th anniversary celebration, we invite all players to pit themselves against a world class chess Grandmaster with this unique opportunity!
